  • Lantz Farms is a multi-generational, family-operated farm with roots tracing back to the 1880s. It’s currently operated by Dave and Eve Lantz in Alberta and by Mike and Kacey (Lantz) Day and their family in British Columbia.

  • We operate in two main locations:

    • Rocky View County, Alberta – Growing wheat, barley, canola, and field peas.

    • East Kootenays, British Columbia – Producing hay, vegetables, and raising Angus cattle and Chickens.

  • The Veggie Shack is our seasonal, self-serve produce stand located at the entrance of our Skookumchuck, BC farm on Highway 93/95. It runs on the honour system and is cash only.

    You’ll find fresh seasonal items like:

    • Sweet corn

    • Potatoes

    • Squash & pumpkins

    • Farm-fresh eggs

    • Garlic, kale, tomatoes, salad greens, carrots, apples, and much more!

  • The Veggie Shack typically opens in the third week of July. Sweet corn becomes available mid to late August, and our popular pumpkin display runs through October 31.

  • We keep the dirt on! This helps retain the natural protective layer that keeps your vegetables fresher, longer, and maintains their nutritional integrity. Just give them a good rinse at home before eating.

  • Absolutely! We offer pickling cucumbers, dill, and garlic—perfect for your next batch of homemade pickles.

  • Our eggs come from free-ranging hens raised with care. They're high in protein and choline, making them perfect for brain health and muscle development.

  • We’re committed to sustainable, regenerative agriculture. Our practices include:

    • Crop rotation, cover cropping, and minimal tillage for soil health.

    • Efficient irrigation and water conservation, especially using Kootenay River water responsibly in BC.

    • Pollinator support through native habitats and flowering plants.

    • Pasture-raised livestock and composting animal waste to enrich soil naturally.

    • Energy-efficient machinery and reduced transportation emissions through local sales.

  • Yes! Each fall, we create a pumpkin display at The Veggie Shack. You’ll find:

    • Carving pumpkins

    • Sugar/pie pumpkins

    • Decorative gourds

    • Plus fall favourites like carrots, potatoes, and squash

    At our East Kootenays farm, we raise:

    • Beef Cattle

  • No, our Alberta location focuses on grain farming, so we don’t offer produce or pumpkins there. All of our fresh veggies and fall favourites are grown and sold at our Skookumchuck, BC location through The Veggie Shack.

  • The patch is open from late September through October 31, from sunrise to sunset daily (roughly 8 AM to 6–7 PM, depending on the daylight).

  • Nope! Our pumpkin patch is completely free to visit. Come take photos, explore, and pick out your pumpkins—just pay for what you take home!

  • We operate on the honour system. You can pay with cash (dropbox on-site) or send an e-transfer to lantzfarmsbc@gmail.com. Easy-peasy.

  • Yes! There’s plenty of parking right off Highway 93/95. Just pull in and park anywhere that looks reasonable—we’re not picky.

  • Definitely! We’ve set up hay bales for climbing and exploring, and the space is great for kids to run around. Just a heads-up—it’s play at your own risk, so keep an eye on your little adventurers.

  • No. We’re a working farm, so facilities are very limited. Best to plan ahead before making the drive—especially if you’re bringing little ones.
